Abstract

The work presented is a review of the scientific literature pertaining to the mechanical properties of the tissues of the nervous system. Additional articles are reviewed where appropriate to indicate the scope of the total literature pertinent to the subject. Preliminary observations from the author's laboratory are also presented.
