1. The impact strength of rabbit m etatarsals was determined both when bare and when covered with various kinds of padding.
2. Presence or absence of inarrow seemed to have little effect.
3. There was an approxim ately linear relationship between the thickness of a thermoplastic material covering the impact point of the bone and the degree of protection afforded.
4. The skin from immediately over the metatarsals increased the strength by about 40 %.

La résistance d’un os à l’impact fut déterminée au niveau des os du m étatarse chez le lapin, aussi bien sur des os dénudés que sur des os entourés de différentes especes de revêtem ent.

La présence ou l’absence de moelle osseuse ne parait pas avoir d’influence importante.

Il existe une relation à peu près linéaire entre l'épaisseur du matériel thermoplastique recouvrant le point d’im pact de l’os et le degré de protection qui incombe à ce matériel.

Le revêtement cutané propre des os du m étatarse augmente la résistance d’un taux équivalent à 40% environ.
