The status of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration side impact research

This paper presents the status of the program for side impact research of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The program consists of four projects: S1 Side Protection—Thoracic Injury, S2 Side Protection—General, S3 Ejection and Roof Protection, and S4 Roof Rail and Pillar Protection. The NHTSA plans to complete the S1 project by mid-year 1983, while the remaining projects shall emphasize problem determination.
