A new method of defining and measuring the motions of the trunk segment centres of gravity during walking, using cinematographic techniques, is developed. The results of this and a further energy analysis are compared with those obtained by other methods in the literature.
The processes of swing-through crutch gait are examined using an integrated approach utilising both experimentation and simulation techniques. The effects of disablement and speed on the mode of progression are examined. The results are compared with those obtained in the literature for normal walking. Conclusions are drawn about the processes common to both gaits.
