Analysis of the vertical component of force in normal and pathological gait

Abstract

Recordings of the vertical component of force exerted in walking by normal and pathological subjects have been analysed into harmonic components and described by other mathematical parameters which help to classify different kinds of waveforms of gait. Eight different types of waveforms have been identified and some correlation found between their features and the harmonic spectra and the other describing parameters on the one hand and the diagnostic state of the hip joint on the other hand.
