The material properties of brain tissue are generally determined based on the experimental data at strain rates below 100s-1. These results are therefore unsuitable for modeling the brain tissue under loading conditions encountered in Blast Induced NeuroTruma (BINT). In this study, an experimental setup was developed to apply shear deformation to brain tissue at strain rates of 100, 150, 500 and 750 s-1 and the tissue material properties were determined. The instantaneous elastic response was initially determined from isochron curves at strain rate of 10s-1 for different strain levels. The results revealed that the material shear response at strain rates higher than 100s-1 are independent of strain rate,. The high rate linear shear modulus was 25.27±4.75 kPa that is significantly higher than the reported results at medium and low strain rates.
