Researchers interested in engineering and biomechanical disciplines met for the Seventh Stapp Car Crash Conference in November 1963. Half of the presentations during the three-day conference concerned the engineering aspects of collision survival and the remainder, medical aspects associated with the vehicular collision problem. It is interesting to consider the types of human simulation technqiues utilized by the researchers making presentations at this conference and the relative popularity of these techniques. At the head of the list were anthropometric dummies, with 13 researchers making direct use of these devices for obtaining objective data. This article briefly discusses the papers presented at the 1963 Stapp Car Crash Conference.
