To acquire morphologic information of Korean elderly rib serves as a key element to build an anatomically detailed finite element human body model. The model can be used to assess the chest injury risk for a car crash accident. Seven flesh cadavers were procured to extract whole right side of the rib cage, i.e., twelve ribs. The complete geometric configuration was digitally reconstructed from micro CT images for each rib. Processing these three dimensional virtual rib models, cross sectional properties such as area, moment of inertia, aspect ratio of long and short ellipsoidal radii were gauged and statistically analyzed.
