The simulation of side impart test procedures provides a new challenge to engineers to extend crash worthiness computations to this load case. The strong interartion between strurture and dummy requires a cormpletely coupled analysis of vehicle and dummy. Since the measured injury levels are the criteria on which the performance of car is judged substantial work has to be performed to obtain a well validated finite element dummy model. This paper presents recent advances in modelling and validation of an EuroSID finite element dummy.
