Abstract and keywords
Diabetic foot ulcers are one of the main and potentially disabling complications of diabetes mellitus. They affect between 5 and 10% of diabetic patients and multiple factors play a role in their development. Diabetic foot ulcers can have a major effect on patients’ quality of life and result in a great burden on the health service resources. Intensive diabetic control and patients education can help avoid their development. In this literature review, we will go through the various risk factors for diabetic foot ulceration.
