Abstract

The elastic modulus of single trabeculae has been determined. Individual trabeculae were buckled in a specially-constructed micro-mechanical tester. By measurement of the load for buckling and the trabecular dimensions, the elastic modulus of the trabeculae was calculated using classical buckling theory.
